Who we are The Housing Staff is made up of three dedicated staff and a host of partnerships with all other city departments and the community at large. We administer federal funds for housing and community development programs. Over a million dollars is distributed into the community each year for various programs and projects. Some of the programs are administered by the City and others are carried out by some 40 non-profit organizations. Community Development Block Grant funds (CDBG) can be used for a variety of public services, public facility and neighborhood improvements, economic development, affordable housing and housing preservation. HOME Investment partnership funds can be used for acquisition, rehabilitation or new construction of affordable housing or tenant based rental assistance. Additional funding for housing development comes from Redevelopment Housing set-a-side funds. The Housing Team is supported by Council appointed Housing and Human Concerns Committee (HHCC), and the Home Improvement Loan Committee makes decisions on home improvement and first-time homebuyer resale loans. Approval of housing policy and use of funds is made by the City Council. |
